- Joint Pain/Arthritis Joint pain can be a debilitating condition that many patients experience throughout the lifespan. Whether you have arthritis throughout your body, sore knees or a creaky shoulder from an old sports injury, our therapists can offer you relief of your joint pain and educate you in how to manage these conditions independently. At Lone Peak Physical Therapy, we use manual techniques, exercise programs and adjustments to posture and body mechanics to help relieve joint pain. If we feel your condition requires x-rays or other imaging, our therapists will refer you on to one of our local physicians for these services in conjunction with your physical therapy treatment.
- Neck Pain - Including Whiplash Rear ended in a fender bender? Take a spill off your horse? Whiplash and neck pain are commonly treated conditions in our clinics. Neck pain can be created by muscle spasm, joint dysfunction or nerve impingement and the therapists at Lone Peak Physical Therapy are trained to diagnose the source of your neck pain, help you resolve it and get you back to your active lifestyle.
- Headaches From chronic migraines to pain associated with sports injury or a motor vehicle accident, our therapists offer many treatments that are effective in reducing headaches. Headaches can be generated by numerous sources such as muscle spasm, joint dysfunction, neurological abnormalities, or even an outdated eyeglass prescription. Lone Peak Physical Therapy’s staff will determine what is causing your headaches and help to reduce them.
- Lower Back Pain - Including Sciatica Low back pain has been extensively studied in the medical field, and over 60% of the population will experience an episode of low back pain during their lifespan. Low back pain also accounts for one of the largest sectors of medical expenses in America. Our therapists are to determine what type of low back pain a patient is experiencing and then to apply cutting edge techniques to reduce this problem. Low back pain patients are often give specialized exercise programs to continue after their discharge from physical therapy in order to prevent a return of the problem.
- Hip/Knee/Ankle/Foot Pain Patients across the lifespan with lower extremity pain find relief through treatment at Lone Peak Physical Therapy. Hip and knee pain can often be a result of weak muscles or poor postural alignment, two underlying conditions that are easy to improve. Our therapists also treat patients with sprained ankles, foot painand plantarfasciitis. Numbness or loss of feeling in the feet from conditions like diabetes or multiple sclerosis is also treatable with physical therapy.
- Shoulder/Elbow/Wrist/Hand Pain Upper extremity pain and injury impacts many of our patients. From shoulder instability to tennis elbow, our therapists have many techniques to improve function of the upper extremity. In cases where a patient has a specific hand or wrist dysfunction, our physical therapists may refer you to our partner company, Freestone Rehabilitation Occupational Therapy, for more specialized treatment.
- Sprains/Strains Many of our patients come to physical therapy for relief of an unspecific sprain or strain injury. It is very common for a patient to say to their therapist, “I’m exactly not sure how I did this, but boy, does it hurt!”.When a patient is not quite sure how an injury occurred, this is when the expertise of a Lone Peak Physical Therapist is most valuable. Our therapists can differentiate a muscular strain from a ligament sprain and via an accurate diagnosis, aid our patients in getting back to life as quickly and painlessly as possible.
- Pre/Post Surgery Physical therapy is traditionally a post-operative course of care designed to restore normal function following surgery. Many of our patients are being treated post-operatively for conditions ranging from shoulder surgeryto spinal fusion to removal of bone spurs. A new area of physical therapy is pre-operative care or “PRE-hab”, where a patient will attend physical therapy BEFORE surgery in order to optimize their surgical outcomes. If a patient is about to undergo a shoulder operation and she doesn’t have adequate strength, the patient’s physician may recommend several physical therapy visits before surgery to maximize strength before surgery.
- Tendinitis/Overuse Injuries These types of injuries crop up in the weekend warrior as well as in the highly trained athlete. Have you been struggling with shin splints, a tight hip or chronic tennis elbow season after season after season? The skilled intervention of a Lone Peak Physical Therapist can reduce the inflammation associated with tendinitis and take your problem away for good. We’ll then educate you in how to prevent another episode of these annyoing injuries.
- Custom Orthotic Fabrication Our therapists handcraft custom orthotics to address a variety of problems like over-pronation, knee and hip pain, collapsed arches, plantarfascitis, heel pain and achilles tendinitis.
- Chronic Pain Have you been diagnosed with a chronic condition like fibromyaligia, myofascial pain, multiple sclerosis or rheumatoid arthritis? Medical research has shown that exercise intervention and lifestyle modifications can reduce pain and improve function. Our therapists work with many patients who are battling chronic conditions and can created individualized programs to maximize your quality of life.
- Balance Issues Our physical therapists treat patients with balance issues that stem from numerous conditions. Whether your balance is compromised due to peripheral neuropathy, diabetes, stroke or just lack of exercise, our therapists can design a program to enhance your balance and reduce your risk of falls.
- Vertigo We offer numerous types of intervention to take away the disabling effects of a bout of vertigo. Our therapists will treat your symptoms in the clinic and then give you a specific program of recommendations that has been proven to reduce the dizziness, nausea, and disorientation associated with vertigo.
- Performance Enhancement Our physical therapists particularly enjoy creating performance enhancement programming for athletes. From high school team sport athletes to endurance competitors, our therapists have expertise in sports medicine, exercise physiology, nutrition and strength training. We use these areas of speciality to create comprehensive, specialized training programs at the request of athletes, parents and coaches. Weight loss or weight maintenance programming is also available.
- Amputation/Prosthetic Management Our physical therapists are trained to provide post-amputation care for patients with conditions affecting both the upper and lower extremity. We are able to modify and adjust many custom prosthetics, and, if needed we are able to refer patients to local prosthetists who are able to make more significant equipment adjustments.
- Wheelchair Fitting Our therapists are trained in wheelchair measurement and modification and we are pleased to offer wheelchair fit services with the supervision of local product specialists if necessary.
- Bracing/Splinting All of our physical therapists have access to off the shelf and customized braces to meet the sports performance needs of our active patient population. We provide off the shelf bracing options for the wrist, elbow, ankle and knee, and can also order custom braces for protection of these joints. Turnaround time on custom braces is typically one week to 10 days and our clinics are set up to bill insurances for bracing equipment.
- Pain Associated with Pregnancy Physical therapy helps pregnant women before, during and post-pregnancy. Women often suffer from low back and pelvic pain during pregnancy. Physical therapy can reduce these discomforts through massage, manual therapy, exercise, and use of stabilization belts. Pregnant women also can benefit from exercise programming during pregnancy to enhance endurance and strength for labor and delivery.
